OK brides. So I know we said how much we loved Marsala and Rose Quartz/Serenity (the 2015 and 2016 Pantone Color of the Year picks), and we do! But the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year is seriously one of our favorites so far…
The 2017 Pantone Color of the Year is a gorgeous green called Greenery, a color that is so perfect for weddings we are squealing with excitement. Here’s more about what it means and why Pantone picked it:
A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.
Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.
A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.
Adds Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another, and a larger purpose.”
I didn’t know the Pantone picks were so spiritual…I like it!
The Pantone Color Institute explains that Greenery is a “versatile “trans-seasonal” shade that lends itself to many color combinations,” and we couldn’t agree more. I think it’s a mix of lime and green grass…perhaps with a bit of yellow undertones as well. Whether you’re planning a spring, summer, fall, or winter wedding, we can see using shades of Greenery in all aspects of your wedding decor (and of course your wedding flowers). They have some great palettes using Greenery below (and more on their site) that could be perfect when trying to decide on your wedding color theme. We’ve also included some inspirational wedding photos inspired by the Pantone Color of the Year choice as well!
And our Pantone Color of the Year wedding inspiration picks are below! Some are not an exact match to the color obviously, but are definitely inspired by it.
