I started WomanGettingMarried.com in November of 2009, soon after I got engaged. At first it was a place for me to document my wedding planning process and all the cool things I was discovering along the way. But when my search for the perfect wedding venue started becoming more and more difficult, I soon realized there were very few resources out there to help brides like me not only find a unique wedding venue, but help us figure out how much it would cost to have a wedding there.
Having worked in magazines and digital media for the past decade as a staff writer and senior editor at publications such as Rolling Stone, Maxim, and Mom.com, I knew I had to take what I learned at my day-jobs and apply them to my newfound passion: the wedding industry! I started writing about every wedding venue I saw, including all the information I compiled from the venue such as catering costs, venue rental fees, how late the wedding could go until, and how easy it would be for my Grandma to get there. The process proved to be beneficial not only to me, but to the brides who somehow discovered my little known site and wrote in to tell me how helpful the reviews were to them. Now, 10 years later, we are one of the largest privately owned wedding planning websites, reaching over 6 million brides every month across our site and social platforms.
While wedding venues will always be a focus of the site, we love bringing couples ALL the information they need to plan their wedding. We cover not only how much everything from the wedding flowers to the wedding cake will cost, but our favorite wedding and bridesmaid dresses, fun and fabulous wedding decor, amazing vintage engagement rings, and interviews with brides just like you who are in the midst of the wedding planning process. We also have a wedding podcast you have to check out!
I’m so happy you are here and I hope you stick around awhile. I’d also love to hear from you! If you have a question or just want to say hi, send me an e-mail!
