Estimated beverage cost:

Number of guests

X hours bar is open

X $5.50 (average drink cost)

X 1.5 (average # of drinks consumed/hour)

For 125 guests and a 5-hour open bar you can expect your alcohol cost to be around $5,100.

There is a two bartender minimum for each event. Conservatory event staff will determine the total number of bartenders needed based on the attendance at your event. Bartenders are billed at $25 per hour. Expect to use one bartender per 75 guests.

The Report:

Originally purchased as as site to hold the Ohio State Fair in 1852, the property was later designated as Franklin Park in 1884. Influenced by Chicago’s World Fair and the City Beautiful movement, a Victorian-style greenhouse–known today as The Palm House–opened to the public in 1895 as the Franklin Park Conservatory. In 2002 the Conservatory underwent Phase 1 of a massive renovation, with new gardens and venues added by 2008 with $23 million in funding.

Woman Getting Married Says:

This wedding venue has several location options which is always great. I’m not a big fan of consumption bars (this one will average you at least $40/pp), but considering they let you bring in outside caterers you’ll hopefully be able to offset any additional cost. Brides have said that the greenhouse can get a bit warm (it’s a greenhouse, after all!) even with the cooling units available for rental, which is something to keep in mind when picking a wedding month. There have also been complaints with the sound-system in terms of guests being able to hear during the ceremony, so be sure to check on that beforehand.
