When it comes to finding the right wedding vendors for you, the # thing you’ll want to remember from Day 1 of your wedding planning is that the more time you have to research them, the better. A lot of the best wedding venues, photographers, videographers, and hair and makeup artists book up FAST, so the sooner you can find your dream team of wedding vendors, the better.
So where do you start your search? If you’re using a wedding planner they will obviously be a HUGE help in your search. But what if you’re not? Use our tips below to help you find the perfect wedding vendor for your style AND budget.
1. The fine print under ‘real weddings’
See a wedding you love featured on our website? Be sure to check out the vendors listed at the bottom of each. If you love the feel of the photos be sure to check out the photographer’s website for even more examples of the their work. Love a bride’s hair/makeup, dress, photographer, or even wedding cake? Those vendors are typically listed at the bottom of each real wedding we feature, with links to their websites or social handles.
2. Wedding photographers
Like wedding planners, photographers have seen it all when it comes to weddings. Wedding vendors, especially in a particular area, are a tight knit group of people who often work together time and time again. If you love a wedding photographer’s style, chances are you’ll like other vendor picks they’ve worked with as well. Since wedding photographers are one of the first vendors you should book, you’ll get their recommendations pretty early on which is a great resource.

While we think we are a great resource for honest wedding venue reviews across the country (and globe!), we also highly recommend reaching out to local caterers when starting your wedding venue search. Often times they know about secret locations or great spots you might not be able to find elsewhere. Start your search on a site like Yelp to find a great caterer in your area and go from there!
Searching keywords on Instagram and Pinterest is a great way to find wedding vendors (as one wedding photographer can attest). If you’re getting married in Miami, a search for #MiamiWeddingPhotographer is a good place to start. Planning a destination wedding? Try a hashtag like #DestinationWeddingPhotographer or #DestinationPhotographer to begin your search.
5. Follow the follows
Love the work of wedding photographers like Jose Villa or Erich McVey, but aren’t in their area or budget? Follow them on Instagram or Facebook, and be sure to go through the list of people THEY are following, and so on and so forth. Talent usually follows talent, so check out the vendors they are following and liking. Even if some of the vendors are not in your area, they might lead you to one that is. And be sure to follow Woman Getting Married on Instagram and Facebook, as we’re always sharing the work of vendors we love!
