The Report

Rancho del Cielo is a working olive ranch in the hills above Paradise Cove with views of the Channel Islands — Santa Catalina, San Clemente, and Santa Barbara. Not to be confused with Ronald Reagan’s vacation home northwest of Santa Barbara (also called Rancho del Cielo) this ranch in the sky is located in Malibu.

Woman Getting Married Says

If you’re a Los Angeles bride looking for a wedding venue, I think the question you should be asking yourself is “Why WOULDN’T I want to get married at an outside wedding venue with a gorgeous view?” We’re one of the few cities in the country that have such idyllic weather (even if we are in a drought), and if you have a lot of out-of- town guests one thing is for sure, they’ll want to be near the beach!

If you’re at the point where an ocean-view wedding venue makes sense, then I think Rancho del Cielo (as well as the Adamson House) should definitely be on your list of places to look at. I think Rancho del Cielo does a bit of a better job of offering modern conveniences (like enough permanent restrooms for guests to use on the property instead of the portable ones that would have to be used at Adamson) while still offering the same vendor flexibility (like being able to buy your own alcohol).

Those are HUGE pluses that shouldn’t be overlooked, especially when considering the venue rental fee at both places. While this one is hefty, your costs will most likely even out with places that have required food and beverage caterers. Another thing to point out is that this is another venue, like Adamson, where being nestled in the hills means that while you’ll get an amazing ocean view, the drive up the hills takes getting used to. I think hiring their preferred shuttle service is the way to go, just for the convenience of your guests.

Thank you for this very helpful website. You have steered a couple of clients to us in the last 18 months. We will be raising our rates in the next month. Would you like me to send you the new rate sheet? Also, sadly Tender Greens no longer caters. Best, Jill
