The Report:
The Julia Morgan Ballroom at the Merchant’s Exchange Building was named after the architect who designed it. Morgan was the first female architect to graduate from the École de Beaux-Arts in Paris, and the first licensed female architect in California. She designed over 700 buildings, including Hearst Castle, the Berkeley City Club, and San Francisco’s famous Livermore house.
Woman Getting Married Says:
I love the rich history of this wedding venue, and I also love the possible late end-time (though that is somewhat common for downtown San Francisco wedding venues). If you have the budget, I would consider taking advantage of the Atrium Lobby rental for $1,500, and having your ceremony there and your reception in the ballroom. That Atrium is equally amazing!
