Meagan and Ben’s Rainy Crested Butte Elopement (With a Rainbow!)

Rain on your wedding day means good luck, right?! We say yes please! Meagan and Ben are from the Midwest, but wanted to say their vows among the mountains, so they decided to elope in Colorado.

Thanks to Katie Dawn Photo for following them all day, rain or shine! First there was a backyard ceremony in town, then they drove back up into the mountains for some alone time. We love an elopement that still makes room for family.

Getting Ready in Town

Meagan wore an Essense of Australia dress from True Society, with a West Elk Floral bouquet of peach dahlias, garden roses and amaranthus, and Face of Makeup did her makeup. We love that there’s a little photo charm tied to the bouquet! And we loved her practical brown boots to explore the trails in later!

A First Look in the Backyard

Meagan and Ben had a first look together in the backyard before everyone came outside.

Backyard Vows Under the Pines

The two gathered their closest family and friends in a little house in the middle of town to say their vows in the backyard, sign their license, and cut their cake with loved ones before heading out of town to say their vows privately. During their vows under the pines, they tied a ribbon around their hands, and at the end Meagan raised her bouquet in the air!

Heart-Shaped Cake and Champagne!

Afterwards there was champagne and a heart-shaped “just married” cake from Cake Me Away!

Rainy Vows by the Lake

Then it was off to the mountains to say their vows again, just the two of them. They went up an off-roading trail to a beautiful, blue alpine lake, and it started raining as soon as they got there. They made do with the little umbrella they brought, but it ended up being amazing, with the most gorgeous rainbow while it poured! (Worried about the forecast for your own day? Exploring Between Rain Showers

They explored the area a little in between rain showers and made the most of the fading sunlight on their day. And we spotted a red canoe on the shore!
