A Comprehensive Guide To Bed Bath & Beyond Registries (With Pictures)

There was a time when every bride HAD to have a Bed Bath and Beyond registry. It was silly not to! But now with SO many great wedding registry options available, we’ve been left wondering if they’ve become as basic as that 20% off coupon you get every month? So, we decided to give them another try. Did we change our mind? Read on to find out how we rank it!

What’s New About the Bed Bath and Beyond Registry?

Over the past couple of years, Bed Bath and Beyond has been experimenting with a new wedding registry experience. Thankfully, the registry creation process has gotten MUCH better (more on how we navigated their site, below) and there are a variety of new features. However, they still seem to be shy about fully promoting their alternative gift options (like cash funds and experiences) alongside more traditional products (like that shiny new set of pots and pans).

While their online registry definitely feels more accessible with a new app and helpful tools, they’re still not as advanced as online-only registries like Zola and The Knot that feature traditional gifts as well as cash funds. And considering Target’s wedding registry recently announced a partnership with Honeyfund for cash gifting to fund your dream honeymoon, it still feels like they’re one step behind.

With that being said, there are still a few pros to registering with Bed Bath and Beyond with their new “love, happier™” experience. Read on to see why!

What Kind of Brands Do They Carry?

When it comes to the selection of products, I do think Bed Bath and Beyond has a wider range of wedding registry favorites than other major retailers. For instance, if you were looking to add kitchen essentials like a set of All-Clad pans to your registry, they have that brand available. Target, on the other hand, does not. That’s +1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond.

We’ll walk you through the entire registry process, below, but in the meantime lets look at some of the most popular brands available to add to your Bed Bath and Beyond’s website:

  • All-Clad
  • Breville
  • Calphalon
  • Cuisinart
  • Dyson
  • Google
  • Instant Pot
  • Le Creuset
  • Mikasa
  • Nespresso
  • Noritake
  • OXO Good Grips
  • kate spade new york
  • KitchenAid
  • simplehuman

Creating a Bed Bath and Beyond Registry

The process itself is fairly easy, but it does involve a bit of navigating. Here’s what you’ll want to do:

First, you’ll want to navigate to the registry tab in the nav bar. From there you’ll have an option to choose what type of registry you want to create. (IE: Wedding or Baby).

You can choose what type of registry you want to create.

Once you make your selection, you’ll enter in your name and the name of your partner, as well as your address and wedding date. As soon as your registry is created, a pop-up then appears saying you’re all set, and prompting you to start adding to your wedding registry from several of their collections: bedding, bath, kitchen and dining. They also give you a choice to explore your registry homepage.

On your homepage you’ll find your names, registry ID, and whether your registry is public or private. If you want to make it private (which I always recommend) you navigate to the settings ‘gear’ icon.

Within your settings you can change your wedding date, contact info, privacy settings, as well as enable group gifting for big-ticket items that cost $250. You can also choose to participate in their ‘Ship or Swap’ program. If you enable it, it means that when a guest buys a gift for you, instead of the gift getting mailed to you, the price they paid will instead be loaded into your account as a “My Funds” credit. This credit can then be used at Bed Bath & Beyond or their family of brands: buybuyBABY, Christmas Tree Shops, World Market and Harmon Face Values.

While I would opt for having the gifts you spent time registering for sent to you when a guest purchases it, it’s nice to have the option. +1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond

Choosing Gifts for Your Bed Bath and Beyond Registry

After I created our sample registry, I was ready to start checking out their gift selections. I got excited when I saw that there were several options aimed to help me get started, such as “Registry Favorites” or “Collection Starters.” As someone who has a hard time deciding where to start, I always appreciate these curated lists. So, I started with their “Collection Starters,” and from there saw collections such as “top registry picks,” “top registry brands,” and “registry must-haves.”

You can choose to add all gifts from the collection, or one-by-one

While I’d love to see even more curated collections from influencers or real registries from couples (they do offer a few but they are hard to find on the site), their collections offered a wide variety. From a vacuum to a mixer and even coffee mugs, they have all the newest products and home decor you could need.

On your main registry homepage under ‘Get Recommendations’ they also offer the ability to get reccs from family and friends, which I thought was a really unique wedding registry experience. +1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond

You can get product recommendations from family and friends

Another great thing to remember about using a registry from big-box retailers like Bed Bath and Beyond and Target is that you can see product reviews, which sites like Zola don’t display. I think reviews from real buyers is so valuable…otherwise you have no feedback and you are sort of flying blind. +1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond

Adding Products to Your Bed Bath and Beyond Registry

Once you find a product you want to add, it’s now fairly easy to add it to your registry. I will tell you that when we last reviewed the BB&B registry, it wasn’t always easy to find the ‘Add to Registry’ button. But now, thankfully, it’s front and center and the process is so much better.

For instance, from any of the product collections you can clearly see the ‘Add to Registry’ blue button.

The ‘Add to Registry’ button is visible on all products, which makes it easy to navigate.

Once you click ‘Add to Registry’ a pop-up box appears confirming you added it. It also gives you the option to keep shopping, view your registry, or mark the gift as a favorite.

If you want to add a product that has options (such as color or size) the process is also easy. Once you click into ‘Choose Options,’ you’ll get taken to the product page, where you can make your selection, then choose to ‘Add to Registry,’ where the same pop-up confirming you added the product will appear. I love how clear they make this process. +1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond

The ‘Add to Registry’ button is easy to find

In addition to the products featured within a collection, it’s just as easy to add from the general search function as well. When I searched for ‘food processors,’ the page displayed 84 products, and I could find the ‘Add to Registry’ button on the product, or the ‘Choose Options’ button, which would take me to the product page as described above.

Tip: To navigate back to your registry homepage, head to the ‘my account’ dropdown on the upper right. Then, click on ‘my registry’ from the options.

What About the Cash Registry?

After adding traditional gifts to my sample registry, I realized I was forgetting their newest features…the cash and experiences!

The problem was I had a hard time even finding where these new options were. In fact, I had to google “bed bath and beyond cash registry” to find it. I eventually found it here.

Unfortunately, after further research I discovered that their cash fund option is no longer operational, which is too bad considering it would really make them a contender with the other online-only registries. While this will be disappointing to a lot of couples, if you don’t care about adding a cash fund option it might not matter to you. Still, that’s -1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond

Do They Offer Experiences?

While that news was a bummer for cash funds, we DID manage to find their experiences. You can also find “Experiences” in the “Wedding Registry Home” tab about halfway down the page.

On the main “Experiences – Registry & Gifts” page, you’ll find options such as a “Sunset Dinner Cruise in Lahaina” to your registry, or a “San Francisco Wine Tasting.”

There are over 1,200 experiences currently available in 29 countries—including the U.S. and Mexico—where you can choose activities like ziplining and scuba diving, . But, unlike registry sites like Zola and Honeyfund, these are actual experiences that guests purchase from a company named Spur. They are not virtual honeymoon gifts that are sent to you in the form of cash from guests.

To get more information, I checked out their FAQ, where I discovered a few things:

  • Experiences are added to your registry, and when guests purchase them you receive e-mail notification with a voucher code from Spur Experiences.
  • Once you receive your voucher, you can schedule your experience with Spur.
  • No refunds are allowed. However, you can exchange it through Spur for a credit towards a different experience.
  • Vouchers do not expire.

I was surprised at how difficult it was to access these features. Hopefully that changes soon, but in the meantime we’d deduct a point for that. -1 point for accessibility to a cash fund, and because experiences are limited.

Other Bed Bath and Beyond Registry Features

Aside from their product selection, there are several other features and use of tools worth noting.

Checklist:

On the right-hand side of your registry you’ll see a floating “Checklist” bar. On your registry dashboard you can choose to hide this bar. Or, you can keep it visible so you can easily click into it when you want.

In the checklist you’ll see popular registry categories, such as Bedding, Bath, Dining, Small Appliances, and more.

If you click on one of them, the category will drop down and you’ll see how many you’ve registered for out of how many you need. (IE: 1 of 2). If you want to look for gifts you don’t have, simply click on the product type (IE: Comforter set) and you’re taken to that category page. This is a great way to keep track of what you still need and then add it. +1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond.

Analyze My Registry:

It’s important to have a wide range of gift prices on your registry. This way, guests can pick something they can afford. The “Analyze My Registry” feature gives you a bird’s-eye view of what you have in each price range. It also lets you add more if you’re running low depending on the number of guests you’re inviting. This feature does everything it needs to do, which means +1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond.

This feature will help you make sure you have enough wedding gifts in every price range.

Thank You List:

Once guests start to buy you gifts, you can navigate to the ‘Thank You List’ tab to reveal who gave you what. This will help you manage all those wedding thank you notes! Most registries have this feature, so it’s not really an added incentive to start a Bed Bath and Beyond registry. However, it is done well. We’ll give +1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond.

Share Your Registry:

Once you’ve created your Bed Bath and Beyond registry you’ll want to share it with guests. When you click on that option a pop-up appears with the registry url. While sites like Zola give you a nice, compact url (IE: Zola.com/registry/YourNameYourPartnersName), we were given a crazy long url from Bed Bath and Beyond. We’ve used X’s where the numbers were, but it was:

bedbathandbeyond.com/store/giftregistry/viewregistryguest/XXXXXXXXX?eventType=Wedding

Definitely doesn’t roll off the tongue! LOL. Chances are you’ll just be linking to it from your wedding website and won’t need to tell anybody what it is, but it’s still nice to have an easy-to-share url. -1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond.

Registry Perks:

Once you create a Bed Bath and Beyond registry, you also get a handful of registry perks. They include:

  • 365-day easy returns and exchanges
  • Free shipping
  • 20% off completion discount
  • Bonus registry gifts. (For instance, if you receive over $500 in Calphalon gifts, you’ll receive a free griddle and springform pan)
  • Welcome rewards (such as a $100 bonus once $500 in gifts are purchased)

+1 point for Bed Bath and Beyond.

Final Thoughts

Out of 12 possible points, we gave our Bed Bath and Beyond registry experience 9. I really like the overall shopping experience, and found the website and app easy to use. They have a wide range of products to choose from, and user reviews help you decide if you should add a product to your list. You also can’t beat their 20% completion offer. While the experience is a lot better than it was a couple years ago, I found myself missing the option to add a cash fund or honeymoon fund that wasn’t tied to one company.

Bottom line? If you want a local store to register at that has a wide range or products, I would opt for retail stores like Macys, Williams Sonoma, Bloomingdales, or Target instead, which has the ability to add a cash or honeymoon fund. Even though the Bed Bath and Beyond registry is easy to use and has a lot of features I like, it’s hard to recommend over a site like Zola which has more alternative gifting options along with traditional product essentials.

Bed Bath and Beyond Wedding Registry FAQ

Does Bed Bath and Beyond give discounts on registry items?

When you register for any Bed Bath and Beyond product, you’ll get any discounts or sales that apply to that product (just like a regular customer would). However, for all products you want to purchase AFTER the wedding, you’ll get 20% off any items left on your registry. They will send you a discount code to use for this, and it can be applied for ONE purchase event (in other words, you can’t use the code more than once, so you would want to add all the remaining items to your cart and purchase them at once to get the 20% discount).

Can you return gifts from a registry?

Wedding gifts can be returned or exchanged for a store credit within 365 days of purchase.

How do I mark a gift as purchased on a Bed Bath and Beyond registry?

When an item is purchased directly from your registry, Bed Bath and Beyond will automatically mark it as purchased. If someone gifts you a product separately, you can just click into that product from your registry dashboard and select ‘mark as purchased’
