Wedding Song: My Baby Just Cares for Me

Nina Simone has one of those voices that I looooove (same with Billie Holiday), which is why I think it’s hard to go wrong with anything Nina Simone related when picking out your wedding songs. I walked down the aisle to her “Feeling Good” when we got married, and while I also MAJORLY love “Here Comes the Sun” (especially for a Father/Daughter Wedding Song), I think “My Baby Just Cares for Me” is one of her best songs for a first dance. It’s upbeat and sweet, and definitely has a good tempo for those of you who don’t want something toooooo slow. The lyrics are below…

My baby don’t care for shows
My baby don’t care for clothes
My baby just cares for me
My baby don’t care for cars and races
My baby don’t care for high-tone places

Liz Taylor is not his style
And even Lana Turner’s smile
Is somethin’ he can’t see
My baby don’t care who knows
My baby just cares for me

Baby, my baby don’t care for shows
And he don’t even care for clothes
He cares for me
My baby don’t care
For cars and races
Baby don’t care for
He don’t care for high-tone places

Liz Taylor is not his style
And even Liberace’s smile
Is something he can’t see
Is something he can’t see
I wonder what’s wrong with baby
My baby just cares for
My baby just cares for
My baby just cares for me
