How it breaks down:

  • There is a $1,000 fee to use non-approved production/audiovisual vendors.
  • All weddings in July and August must be indoors due to heat.

Food and Beverage: They have a list of approved caterers you may choose from, or you may bring in a non-approved caterer for a fee of $2,000. You must use the Swan House for beverage service. There is a $4,500 beverage service minimum for all Saturday rentals, Sundays before holidays and Fridays in December. The minimum is $10,000 for New Year’s Eve and any other holiday the History Center is regularly closed. More Stats:

Space Type: Inside/Outside. A typical wedding setup would be a Swan House Lawn ceremony, cocktail hour in the Boxwood Garden, reception on Swan House Lawn (located on the opposite side of house) or reception in the Grand Overlook Ballroom. An Allen Atrium (Museum) ceremony, cocktail hour in Exhibition Hall, and a reception in the Grand Overlook Ballroom is another option.

Size: Up to 400 guests for a wedding

Bridal Suite: There are extra rooms but no suite per se

Parking: Yes (free), with spaces for up to 225 cars.

The Grand Overlook Ballroom

The Report:

Built in 1928 for Edward and Emily Inman by architect Philip T. Shutze, the house was acquired by the Atlanta Historical Society in 1966. Since then the house–which is on the National Register of Historic Places–has undergone a $5,4 million renovation, and is a notable presence in commercials and film, including The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Woman Getting Married Says:

This wedding venue reminds me a lot of Vizcaya in Miami. It’s sort of the perfect Southern outdoor ceremony and cocktail space. Plus, you have a great indoor option in case of rain (or in the warmer months) with the Grand Overlook ballroom which…be still my heart…has wood floors! You also can’t beat the location, which is super convenient for out of town guests. Considering it’s a historical property expect a lot of rules, but if you can live with that (and the higher rental cost) this will definitely be an amazing wedding venue for all you Atlanta brides.
