Average base cost for a Newhall Mansion wedding is calculated by figuring a 125-person guest list using an average $80/pp food/beverage catering cost and $11,000 for an event weekend buyout (using the option to have guests pay directly for their guestrooms, which brings your cost down to $11,000 vs. $16,000. How Will Grandma Get There? Ideally if you are doing the event weekend package Grandma can stay in the mansion. Otherwise there are several 3-star hotels nearby such as the Hyatt Regency Valencia, which is about 20 minutes away. Newhall Mansion is located in the town of Piru and is about an hour from Burbank Airport (2 hours to LAX) and an hour to downtown Los Angeles.

Built in 1890, the Victorian-style Newhall Mansion sits on nine acres with eight bedrooms. The property also features a pool with cabanas, courtyard, patio with firepit, gazebo, underground tavern and historic library. Fun fact: Several film and TV projects have used Newhall Mansion, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, X-Files, Charmed, Melrose Place, Charlie’s Angels, The Incredible Hulk, Monk, Murder She Wrote, and American Wedding.

I love the idea of a wedding venue that offers the intimacy of an Airbnb but has the service of a boutique hotel, and Newhall Mansion is exactly that. The property is definitely not your run-of-the-mill event venue, and has everything you need for a great event. If you have a lot of out-of-town guests I think the location is the only downside since there aren’t a ton of great hotels nearby, but for locals the venue is only about an hour away from popular areas in LA, which is basically EVERY location in LA. If the Victorian style is not your thing, the owners of this property also own several other unique wedding venues.
