The Report

The Muckenthaler Mansion was built in in 1924 by Walter and Adella Muckenthaler. The property sits on 8.5-acres of land in a residential section of Fullerton. The 18-room mansion was donated to the city in 1965 by Harold Muckenthaler, who wanted to see it used as a cultural center for the city. In addition to hosting private events, they have art exhibitions and music festivals open to the public.

Woman Getting Married Says

If you’re looking to host a large group of people in a setting that’s more intimate than a hotel (and less sterile than a banquet hall), I think the Muckenthaler Mansion is a great option. The fact that it has BOTH inside and outside options is a great feature, and depending on the size of your wedding you could utilize one or all of their location options since they only host one wedding a day.

Many couples have their ceremony in the Italian garden, the cocktail hour (or reception if hosting a smaller wedding) in the Art Gallery or the Courtyard, and larger events in either of their lawns (Adella and Northwest Lawn). The venue rental fee is not outrageous (particularly in the off-season), and you can highlight the venue’s heritage with great furniture rentals and a 1920’s/vintage wedding theme. The main drawback is the 10 p.m. cutoff time, but given their flexibility with size/location an earlier wedding might be worth it.
