Lauren Conrad Debuts Line of Bridesmaid Dresses

Hills star turned fashion designer Lauren Conrad is in full wedding planning mode. But while she’s focused on being a bride, she’s not too busy to create her own line of bridesmaid dresses alongside her friend and partner Maura for their fashion line, Paper Crown. The inspiration? Their own bridesmaids!

A bit about the collection from Lauren Conrad via her website:

As you know, I’m in the middle of planning my wedding. My bestie Maura who runs Paper Crown with me was also planning her wedding this year (and actually just tied the knot a week ago… Congrats Mojo!). So, it was a very natural evolution that we design a bridesmaids collection. Maura’s ‘maids all wore dresses from the line and my bridesmaids will of course be wearing Paper Crown dresses too.

The 12-dress collection, which made it’s debut online and will be modeled by her own bridesmaids in an upcoming issue of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine (pictured above), is meant to allow your bridesmaids to pick their own style, which is what Lauren Conrad asked her own bridesmaids to do.

“I sent them all the different shapes and let them pick from two colors,” she told the magazine. “I don’t mind if there are a few girls in the same dress, or if people are all in different ones. It’s too difficult to take a group of girls and put them in the same color and silhouette; everyone has their own style.”

Each dress is made to order and is meant to be worn again. Conrad and her partner Maura also opted for varying lengths, but nothing too extreme.

“We’re doing full-length, a couple midi, and then we have a couple to-the-knee,” Conrad said. “We didn’t really go shorter than that because it doesn’t really feel appropriate, and if that’s what you want, then you can always shorten the dress.”

I love the flowy/unstructured look of several of the designs as well as the lighter colors. While I’d love to see a lower price point (the dresses start at $220 and go up to $325), if your bridesmaids think they can wear the dress again then it’s totally worth it. A few of my favorites are below!
