Even though we’re all about amazing wedding venues on the site, nothing melts our hearts more than seeing a couple say ‘I Do’ at a wedding location that has been in the family for generations. That’s why we are so in love with this gorgeous backyard real wedding, captured beautifully by Rob + Kristin Photography.
This real wedding was held on the bride’s family farm just outside of Wake Forest, NC. Kathryn’s grandfather and uncle were born in the recently collapsed farming home on the property, and she and her husband Rob chose to be wed underneath a giant oak tree on what the photographer calls “the most beautiful day we could have hoped for.”
Every detail of their wedding tied in to Rob and Kathryn’s unique story: a Chinese dictionary for a guest book (Rob and Kathryn met at an international relations conference and are both fluent in Mandarin), an assortment of brews nodding to their Milwaukee home, and rustic Carolina themes (like moonshine and a roasted pig) throughout the menu and decor honored Kathryn’s family history.
