Before Karen and Tom could move to New York City, they wanted to get married in Raleigh, North Carolina with family that lived nearby. But the couple’s family members not only attended the wedding; they were also a major presence at both the ceremony and reception. Karen’s father played the harp in a special wedding song, there were photos everywhere of both of their parents’ weddings, and the bride and groom were even joined together in marriage by Karen’s aunt. Also, Karen herself is an opera singer, so when it was discovered that one of the couple’s nephews (the ring bearer!) was celebrating his birthday, a group of opera singers sang an incredible rendition of “Happy Birthday.”
The family affair was celebrated against sunshine and blue skies at the historic Merrimon-Wynne House. Full of southern charm and captured beautifully by Rose Trail Images and Good Morrow Photography, the venue boasted the perfect outdoor ceremony setting, gorgeous flower arrangements and garland inside, and there was even a nearby trolly that the entire wedding party took photos on.
