‘Bride Talk’ is a new feature on Woman Getting Married where we check in with brides just like you to see how the wedding planning is going, what you’ve done so far and what your major stressors (or reliefs!) have been along the way. It’s a chance for other bride-to-bes to get a glimpse into how others are planning their wedding, and to get tips and share some of their frustrations and happiness before saying ‘I Do!’

Have you had any major hurdles planning the wedding, or has anything been easier than expected?
Definitely easier than expected. Since we live in Los Angeles, I thought planning a wedding all the way in Florida would be extra stressful and hard. Booking things over email and phone was a little tricky at times. We decided to check a lot of the big things off our list (venue, catering, photographer, flowers, DJ) all in one long weekend trip to Florida – and I’m so happy we did that. And it was fun to devote that time with both families too. We’ve been able to take our time on the smaller, fun details after that.
What’s one thing you’ve totally splurged on and why?
Photography. And
We hired photographers to document our whole weekend (ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal dinner in addition to our wedding day). It’s rare, like most, to have all your favorite and special people in one place, so we want to make sure all of the weekend memories are covered.
And our
What about saved on?
We definitely saved on invitations by designing them ourselves, since we’re both artists. We had some custom stamps made, and had a lot of fun creating everything together.
What made you pick your wedding venue?
Our venue is a Mediterranean revival style mansion from 1929, so its full of beautiful details inside and out with a backyard overlooking the bay. We wanted to have an outdoor/indoor combination that had some charm, and the Powel Crosley Estate was a perfect choice. We also loved how open the space is.
Do you have a wedding planning timeline or are you attacking each item as they come up?
We’ve been tackling them as they come up, which has worked out really well for us.
What are you most nervous about?
Ugly crying and my eyes being closed in photos 🙂
What are you most looking forward to?
Our doughnut dessert table (kidding, but not really…). I’m most looking forward to having both of our families and closest friends together. We both know how rare this is, so I plan on soaking in every moment during our entire wedding weekend.
