How it Breaks Down
Facility Rental Fee: Barr Mansion’s venue rental fees are all-inclusive, meaning catering and other items are included. However, here is a general range of what you can expect on a peak night during April, May, or October.
Ceremony: $1650 plus $5 per guest over 100 (for 150 guests that would be $1,900). This will include:
- Indoor & outdoor options
- Personal wedding coordinating services
- Full seating for guests
- All set-up and clean-up
Reception: There is a tiered star system available for food, which increases in price the more stars you opt for. For a “24-star” family-style dinner you can expect prices to range from $118+/pp for the following items. Please note beverage is separate.
- Coordination
- Catering
- Cakes
- Staffing
- Rentals (base rate is for round tables, choice of linens, china/glassware/flatware)
Food/Beverage: As noted above all catering is provided by Barr Mansion. They will also provide beverage staffing/setups, however you must provide your own alcohol. Prices for this run around $14/pp and includes:
- Certified bartenders
- All barware
- Water, iced tea, coffee, ice, and mixers if you are doing a full bar
NOTE: If providing your own alcohol for a full bar, I would budget an additional $20/pp.
Extras: A standard time block for a wedding at Barr Mansion is 4.5 hours, with two hours of access time prior for the bridal party to get dressed and take pictures, and for vendors to load in and set up. Additional hours may be purchased (see below). You may purchase additional hours: $475 for 100 guests, $4.75/each additional guest

The Report
The goal behind the Barr Mansion, which is the first certified organic events venue in the country, is to provide a venue that is “ecologically advanced” and sustainable for the community and beyond. Rebuilt in 2010 after a fire, the venue adheres to what they call “The Green 10,” which includes certified wildlife habitat and organic gardens on the property as well as a zero waste facility. The new ballroom is crafted from recycled materials, heritage sites, as well as reclaimed timber’s from their original ballroom’s frame. Couples can choose between flexible ceremony/reception venue options on the 7-acre property. For example, given good weather you might opt to have the ceremony in the gardens with the Victorian Mansion behind you and the reception in the Artisan Ballroom. Barr Mansion only hosts one event a day.
Woman Getting Married Says
Kudos to Austin for yet another great wedding venue with amazing indoor/outdoor space! While this combination can be hard to find in other cities (including Los Angeles wedding venues), Barr Mansion is a great example of a unique venue with space, history, and a cause that you can get behind. While being locked into a caterer can be a bummer in some venues, the food gets top marks at Barr Mansion from couples who have had their weddings there.
And even though some brides have mentioned that certain things such as lighting and draperies can be an added cost, the fact that you can bring in your own alcohol is a big win. If a full-service wedding venue with character is what you’re after, you’ll want to put Barr Mansion on your must-see list.

Hi Melanie!
Thanks so much for letting us know.
We have deep regret that recent burglaries at Barr Mansion have violated all that we know and love about the unique experiences we strive to achieve on your most special day. The Barr Mansion family has been deeply affected by this, and we understand the personal pain it has caused. We have had two separate incidents impacting our clients despite proactive measures we took following the first one impacting an employee, and despite operating without issue for 34 years. We are committed to finding the perpetrators of the crime and insuring this never happens again. So, while our contracts clearly state we are not liable for lost or stolen personal belongings and we do not provide security at the facility, we are taking extraordinary steps to insure the confidence of our clients and to prevent these incidents from happening the future. We want to reassure you that we are working closely with authorities to identify the perpetrators of this crime to ensure justice is served on behalf of the affected families and our own Barr Mansion family. We are deeply committed to creating extraordinary events for our clients and it is regretful that we must take these extreme actions to ensure security.
For anyone considering Barr Mansion in Austin as an event venue (particularly for a wedding), please read this first.
While the venue was gorgeous, I am completely disappointed by how certain events at my sister’s wedding were handled. We were promised that the house with the bride & groom’s rooms would be completely LOCKED up following the ceremony and family photos, and would not be accessible to ANYONE until the night was over. Following dinner, my mom (mother of the bride) needed her jacket, so I asked an employee for access to the house to get her jacket. Unfortunately, what I found was that my purse, my mom’s purse, the maid of honor’s purse and several of the newlywed’s presents had been stolen from the house because at least one of the windows to the house had NOT been locked and one or more persons trespassed an stole our belongings. They even took my sister’s signed marriage license! Adding insult to injury, it has come to my attention that an IDENTICAL theft has occurred LESS THAN A MONTH before my sister’s wedding. Sept 5, 2015 was the date of the incident I am now aware of, and my sisters wedding was Oct 3, 2015. Not a single person made an attempt to warn us ahead of time to hide our belongings, remove them from the house, or even just let us know that there had been a theft at the house less than a month before. Even after we discovered the theft, STILL no one made any mention that this had happened before. Everyone acted as if this was a complete fluke. I am shocked, disappointed, sad and angry that I had to miss the second half of my sister’s wedding (memories that I can’t ever have) due to a situation that SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. There should have been a warning to hide our belongings. Someone should have double checked the locks to the house. There should have been someone sitting in the house for security KNOWING that a theft had recently occurred. It’s really inexcusable.
