If you hung out in our house for more than a couple days, chances are at some point during that time period a Smith’s song would come on. They are one of my husband’s favorite bands and I’m also a fan…so it’s a bit of a mid-80’s love fest from time to time round these parts.
“There is a Light That Never Goes Out” definitely takes a spot in my Top 5 Smith’s songs, and the more I listen to the song the more I think it could work as a wedding song. If not for your first dance then definitely as a groom processional (though I still love the acoustic version of “Please, Please, Please” that my husband walked down the aisle to).
Though it’s hard for anybody to do it better than Morrissey, an acoustic version of “There is a Light That Never Goes Out” could possibly work better for a first dance song, because the original is a bit fast. If you’re hiring a band you might want to see if you like their version, or Noel Gallagher also has a live acoustic version of it (though I don’t really love his).
