How Will Grandma Get There? The Rock Island Lake Club is an hour from Newark International Airport and about 1 1/2 hours from JFK. The nicest hotel options for out of town guests are going to be near Hamburg (such as the Grand Cascades Lodge) which is about 25 minutes away. There’s also the Hilton Garden Inn where the Rockaway Mall is, which is about 15-20 min away from the venue with shopping, food and drinks nearby. I would definitely arrange for a shuttle for guests.

The Report:
Owned and operated by Perry Bonadies, the former General Manager of Lake Valhalla Club for over 26 years, and Michele Bonadies, a professional wedding ceremony coordinator, this Northern New Jersey venue sits on 11 acres on a private lake. A typical wedding setup in the 14,000 sq. ft building would be a ceremony along the lake, cocktail hour in the cocktail lounge and lower deck/grounds, a sit-down dinner reception and dancing upstairs in the ballroom with an upper deck overlooking the lake.
Woman Getting Married Says:
I don’t think we’ve ever read such glowing reviews from brides on a wedding venue. They love not only the space but the responsive staff and planning that goes into their wedding. I’m personally a big fan of turn-key wedding venues like this one, especially if you want to save money on things like tables and chairs and don’t want to spend the time tallying up the price of various bar packages (trust us…we do it all day long!). Dates book up here fast, so the sooner you can check out this wedding venue, the better.
