How Will Grandma Get There? Ideally there! The Lodge at Torrey Pines is located 15 miles north of downtown San Diego with 170 guest rooms. The hotel can offer discounted rates for hotel rooms (often times upwards of 15% and more) based on availability. There is also a Hilton Torrey Pines next door that can offer wedding guests discounted rates as well.

The Report:

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a AAA Five Diamond Resort which sits on the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course (the site of the 2008 and the upcoming 2021 U.S. Open Championships) and is less than 4 miles from La Jolla beaches with a view of the ocean. Fun Fact: Last year President Obama accidentally crashed a wedding there!

Woman Getting Married Says:

I recently looked at this venue for a couple who had their heart set on a Santa Barbara wedding venue but 1) the time of year made the venue fees too high and 2) they were looking for a hotel where all guests would be able to stay for a reasonable rate. I think this property definitely fits the bill, and will give you a destination wedding location without the often exorbitant destination wedding resort prices of $500+/night in Southern California. The craftsman style of the venue and the hotel in general might not float everybody’s boat, but I definitely think you have to look at what it offers as a whole before crossing it off the list. It’s super convenient for guests flying in (the San Diego airport is only 21 minutes away), and the resort offers a ton of activities (golf, croquet, a library, swimming pool, complimentary car service within a 5-mile radius to explore La Jolla and downtown Del Mar). Also, if you have any golfers in your group this will definitely be a treat for them, as hotel guests receive preferred tee times!
