The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is a nonprofit art museum and school promoting the creation and appreciation of the visual arts in West Michigan since 1924. Designed by the Chicago, Illinois architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the building is based on the Mies van der Rohe International Style of architecture. In 1997 the KIA started a massive renovation, increasing their size to 72,000 and adding a two-story lobby gallery, auditorium, classrooms and galleries.
Woman Getting Married Says:
This is a budget-friendly option in the Kalamazoo area that has a modern feel to it. I would think about doing a theme to play up the venue’s artistic side (Mardi Gras could be fun!), and use lots of bright colors for your flowers/decor. The location is also great!
