You can add “sob” to your list of things to do today after reading this heartwarming note a wife left her husband shortly before she passed away.
Jimmy and Billie Breland were married for 60 years when Mrs. Breland fell ill late last year. According to Yellow Hammer News, Jimmy Breland stayed by his wife’s side every day in the hospital until her death last month. A short time after her death, Jimmy Breland found a note from his wife in his checkbook that she intended for him to find.
According to Breland’s grandson, Cliff Sims, the note read:
“Please don’t cry because I died! Smile because I lived! Know that I’m in a happy place! Know that we will meet again! I will see you there!”
Sims told The Huffington Post that his grandfather was overcome with emotion when he found it.
“I’ll never forget the look in my granddad’s eyes when he showed the rest of our family the note — some tears, but a lot of smiles, too.”
He added:
“That note will be a source of comfort and a reminder that love conquers everything, even death. There’s an indescribable peace that comes with knowing he’ll be reunited with her in eternity.”
