How Will Grandma Get There? Freehand Miami is a 3-star hotel as well as the restaurant (27 is the restaurant and Broken Shaker is the bar) that is located in a central location on Miami Beach, just 1 block from the beach. Guests can stay at the 80-room hotel/hostel or at nearby properties such as the 5-star Fontainebleu, which is a 6 minute drive away. Miami International Airport is 25-minutes away.

The Report
Freehand Miami (there are also locations in LA,Chicago, and NYC) is a unique hotel/hostel concept that is just a five-minute walk from Miami Beach, and less than 1 mile from the nightlife of South Beach with amenities like an outdoor terrace with a pool, two craft cocktail bars, a seasonal restaurant, and breakfast served daily. Events can be hosted at 27 Restaurant, which is located in a historic house adjacent to the courtyard; or in the backyard, at their smaller bar Broken Shaker or the Secret Garden.

27 is one of my favorite restaurants on Miami Beach, and it’s where I actually celebrated last New Year’s Eve (with dinner and fun dancing afterwards). The food here is great and the ambience feels laid back while still being boho chic. I’d be a little nervous about having a large wedding (over 100 here) if it rains, just because most of the best space for larger groups is outside, but for smaller groups this is a really unique option.
