Printable wedding invites are becoming more and more popular online, not only on Etsy but at other online wedding invitation retailers. While online shops have a great selection, you can’t beat Etsy when it comes to new and fun wedding invitation designs.
If you do choose to buy a printable wedding invitation suite online, you’ll have two options:
1. Buy and Print Them Yourself
You can buy your paper stock/envelopes direct from a site such as Paper Source and print them yourself, but you have to make sure your home printer can accommodate a heavier weight paper (NOTE: Most home printers can only accommodate up to an 80 lb. paper weight). For wedding invites, I prefer 100 lb. cotton stock. Here is a general guideline for paper weights:
Light Weight – Up to 169 gsm, 91 lb Text
Medium Weight – 170-216 gsm, 65-80 lb Cover
Heavy Weight – 217-284 gsm, 90-105 lb Cover
Extra Heavy Weight – 285 gsm, 111 lb & Up Cover

2. Take Them to a Professional Printer
If you’d rather not mess around with printing them yourself but still want to save money on invites, you can upload a design (like any of the ones below), and go with option #2 and get them professionally printed. Be sure to inquire about not only invites and envelopes (for your wedding invites as well as your response cards), but info cards as well (these normally list out your hotel/travel info and your wedding website). Cost-wise, you can expect to pay around $1 and up per invite (not including envelopes and info cards) depending on the paper weight you choose. Considering you can end up paying $400 and up for 150 invitations (I paid over $700 for 100 invites, rsvp cards and envelopes, and info cards), you’ll most likely end up saving close at least 30-40% off a regular pre-printed invitation suite if you print them yourself.
