While the search for the perfect wedding venue can (hopefully) uncover your dream location, sometimes it’s those unexpected places close to home that end up being just right for you. That’s exactly what happened to Cierra and her husband Daniel, whose love of horses led them to such a memorable spot. This true farm wedding (yes, it’s an actual working horse farm!) shows just how special an outdoor, down-home wedding can be when you choose the details that really matter to you. My husband grew up in Kissimmee, which is only about 10 miles from where I grew up in St. Cloud. It was really important to us to stay with a local wedding and reception venue, but St. Cloud is a small town with limited options. After shopping around many venues, we approached my mother with the idea of hosting the wedding at her local horse farm. She welcomed the idea with open arms and so the planning began! Dan and I placed emphasis on including the outdoors (which is something that we both love) as much as possible in our wedding day. We spent all of our weekends adding new additions to the farm such as a dock on the pond, a playground for the children, and a dance floor. The rest of our time was spent planning the details of our dream wedding. Budget was very important so we did a lot of projects ourselves, which allowed for friends and family to be a big part of our day helping out with their own creative skills and ideas.
We designed the programs ourselves, which were themed as survival guides to add some humor!
I grew up around horses, so having the coctail hour in the alleyway of the barn was super fun and important to me…I was even brought in to the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage!
Keeping our vendors local and helping boost the local economy was extremely important to us. Most of our vendors were either friends or recommendations of friends.
