‘Bride Talk’ is a new feature on Woman Getting Married where we check in with brides just like you to see how the wedding planning is going, what you’ve done so far and what your major stressors (or reliefs!) have been along the way. It’s a chance for other bride-to-bes to get a glimpse into how others are planning their wedding, and to get tips and share some of their frustrations and happiness before saying ‘I Do!’

What’s the biggest hurdle you’ve run into since you started planning your wedding?
We found that our “smaller wedding” guest list was larger than we expected. It’s been hard for us to narrow it down so that we’re not way over our ideal guest count. Plus, as a bride, it’s been hard for me to come to terms with the fact that I can’t please everyone, between picking the bridal party and drafting the guest list.

Has anything been easier than expected?
Besides the fact that Connor basically knows EVERYONE (Seriously. Our photographer, florist, DJ, and day-of-coordinator are all people he knows!)… Finding our venue was so easy that it made us nervous! We’re getting married at Thomas Fogarty Winery, which was our first stop. We had to force ourselves to look at at least one more place so that we had “options.” The views and the wood pavilion structure where we’ll be holding the ceremony just screamed US!

Is there anything about the wedding planning process that is totally different than how you thought/envisioned it would be?
I always thought it would be a bit more hectic. We’re still at the beginning of the process, so I’m sure the craziness will come, but for now, we’ve enjoyed a steady, relaxed routine of checking out vendors and nailing down our favorites.

Do you have a wedding planning timeline or are you attacking each item as they come up? If you do have a timeline, can you tell us a bit about what you’ve done so far and what you still need to do?
Being the Type-A planner that I am, I have a master spreadsheet, but so far my biggest goal has been to keep us moving steadily from one task to the other. I know if we take too much of a break in between deciding plans, we might forget something!

Here’s where we’re at so far…

What’s your biggest worry/stressor about the wedding?
I just really hope that everyone enjoys themselves (and that people dance!). I also hope that the control freak in me can relax for the day and enjoy every minute. 🙂

What are you most looking forward to?
I cannot wait for that moment when I start walking down the aisle and see Connor’s face. We aren’t doing a first look, so I know I’ll be sobbing because I cry at EVERY little thing (I’m totally tearing up just writing this), but I can already tell that will be the moment when it all clicks.
