Top Picks:

The Malibu Beach Inn: Carbon Beach Club Restaurant

This hotel and restaurant feels like an undiscovered gem in Los Angeles, though it’s been a favorite or locals and celebrities (several of which I saw on a recent visit there) since it opened. It’s Carbon Beach Club Restaurant has what I would argue is the best view in the area, and is a better value than neighboring Nobu restaurant for great food and amazing ambience. The terrace can accommodate up to 50 guests for a seated dinner or up to 75 guests for a cocktail reception. The Carbon Beach Club Restaurant dining room can also accommodate up to 35 guests, and their private dining room can host up to 20 for a more intimate gathering. I was lucky enough to stay in one of their oceanfront rooms, and even though I’m what I consider to be an overly picky guest, I thought the room was perfect. It was well laid out, plush, comfortable, and had a patio overlooking the ocean that made us feel like we were on a cruise ship the water was so close. Falling asleep listening to the waves was such a treat! I think this hotel would be perfect for a small wedding, or more ideally for a rehearsal dinner and hotel option for guests if you’re getting married in Malibu or Santa Monica. 45 guest rooms from $300+ depending on time of year. Prices range from $1,000 for a buyout of the Private Dining Room to $12,000++ for the Terrace.

Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills: Estérel

This luxury hotel is in a near perfect location for guests traveling from out-of-town (it’s right across from the Beverly Center and walking distance or short Uber ride away to lots more shopping and restaurants). It’s restaurant, Estérel, has a 2,732 square-foot main dining room (with an open kitchen to watch all the action), two private dining rooms, and one of the prettiest patios in Los Angeles. With colorful seating, a Provençal inspired herb garden, fountains, a driftwood bar, flowering trellises and a living wall of plants, the space is perfect for a wedding or rehearsal dinner. Did I mention how tasty the food is?! I recently ate here and had such a delicious dinner. Guests will love the modern hotel, whose 295 guestrooms boast sleek bathrooms (with an amazing shower) and what has to be the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in (you can actually order their SoBed™ online!). Guest rooms from $199/night depending on time of year. Prices start at $15K++ minimum for a buyout of Esterel and  $90++ per person for a rehearsal dinner.
