Add the Important Details

Once the design is exactly how you want it, it’s time to customize your STD by adding your personal details. Zola’s intuitive builder makes it easy to create your Save the Date online. Starting with the front of the card, you can add text (select a formal or casual tone depending on the type of wedding you plan on having) and upload a personal photo (if you’ve chosen a photo design). Zola also offers design tips for your Save the Dates, and you can always contact them if you have any other questions along the way!

The details you’ll want to make sure your Save the Date has are:

  • Both of your names (first names or full names are fine)
  • Your wedding date
  • The city and state of your wedding location
  • A note that a real invitation will follow (‘Formal Invitation to Follow’)
  • Your wedding website and password (more on that below)

For the back of the card, you’ll want to include your return address as well as the guest address. Guest addressing is completely free with Zola, and you can also use their incredibly awesome Guest List Manager tool that will help you not only gather guest addresses, but track online RSVPs and meal choices.

Your STD is a great place to include your wedding website url, which guests can use to stay up to date on the latest information for your wedding. Zola has matching wedding websites for every invitation design, making it easy to create a cohesive wedding theme and palette. Guests will also appreciate being able to shop your Zola wedding registry on your wedding website without every having to leave, and can even RSVP on there, too. Your Zola wedding website is password protected to make sure your information stays private, so be sure to include your password on the STD as well.

What Not to Include

While you’ll want to make sure you have all the information above included on your Save the Date, one thing to avoid is putting your wedding registry info directly on there as well. Save that for your wedding website! Other info you don’t have to worry about including would be:

  • Your venue name
  • The time of your wedding
  • Wedding dress code
  • Whether or not kids are invited (instead, you can include this on your wedding website if you’re having an adults-only wedding)

That’s it! Hopefully this guide will help you easily create your Save the Date. 🙂
