Average Base Cost: $40,000

Average base cost for a Sundance Mountain Resort wedding is calculated by figuring a 125-person guest list for a Saturday ceremony and reception using their $150/pp wedding package as well as consumption beverage costs for their Premium Liquor and Wine estimating 6 drinks per person for a 5-hour reception. Entertainment, flowers, additional decorations and rentals, DJ, wedding coordinator, and photography are not included. Price is rounded up to the nearest thousand. Gratuity and tax is included.

Room Rental

IMPORTANT: Room rental fees are included in your package, listed below, when meeting the minimum person requirement (100 guests). If you anticipate your guest attendance to be under the minimum requirement, there will be a room rental fee will apply according to your numbers:

  • 90‐99 guests: $1,500 room rental
  • 80‐89 guests: $3,000 room rental
  • 70‐79 guests: $4,500 room rental
  • 60‐69 guests: $6,000 room rental

Note: When booking events more than 2 months in advance, the venue requires lodging of 35 rooms for 2 nights to be contracted along with the function space.

If lodging is not needed, availability of the space will be assessed and the venue will place a non‐contractual hold on the desired date until you are within the 2 month range. Please note that if another groups shows interest in your date and is willing to meet the lodging requirement, they will take priority over the space.

  • All labor and set-up charges & room rentals for the event spaces, upon meeting 100 person minimum.
  • Use of (1) full range sound system with (2) speakers, mixer & (1) microphone.
  • House tables, chairs, linens, china, flatware, glassware & candle centerpieces.
  • Banquet staff for events including set-up & tear-down, cocktail hour servers & bartenders for 2 bars (based on 100 guests, additional staff required for more guests) for up to 6 hours.
  • Menu tasting for up to 4 guests.
  • Cake cutting & service.
  • Cocktail hour reception (4 pieces of passed hors d’oeuvres or 3 displayed items per guest)

* Sundance will provide staffing for your events based upon the following:

  • One (1) server per fifty (50) guests for buffet meals, one (1) server per twenty (20) guests for plated meals.
  • Additional banquet servers, staff, or attendants may be requested at $35 per hour with a two (2) hour minimum.
  • Chef attendants / carvers are $150 each (for up to 2 hours).

Vendors: The venue requires that food & beverage, specialty tables, linens & chair rentals are arranged through Sundance. Outside vendors for décor, floral, photography, cake, etc. are welcome. Wedding planners are required.

Optional Extras:

A $100 minimum room re‐set charge will be applied to rooms that need to be re‐set within the same day, or to change the set‐up of a room once it has been set. Rooms may be set twenty‐four (24) hours in advance and changes made inside of twenty‐four (24) hours may incur additional labor charges.

Rehearsal Hall + Redford Center

  • Reserve both the Rehearsal Hall and Redford Conference Center to accommodate all of your events. Room rental fee of $3,000 and $50 increase to the per person package price will apply.

Rehearsal Dinner

  • Add a rehearsal dinner to your weekend wedding. A function space room fee & minimum number of guests will apply. All food, beverage, and event details will be priced a la carte based upon the specifics for your event (bar, alcohol, hors d’oeuvres, audio visual, decor, etc).
  • Screening Room or Creekside: $500 room rental / minimum 30 people.
  • Redford Center or Rehearsal Hall: $1,000 room rental / minimum 60 people.


  • Add a breakfast or brunch on the departure morning of your events. A function space room fee will apply. All food, beverage & event details will be priced a la carte based upon the specifics for your event (bar, alcohol, audio visual, decor, etc).
  • Screening Room or Creekside: $250 room rental / minimum 30 people.
  • Redford Center or Rehearsal Hall: $500 room rental / minimum 60 people.

Size: The venues can accommodate up to the following:

Rehearsal Hall: 

Features 17’ ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and a central stone fireplace. The largest event space, the room is 4,200 square feet and has two air walls that can divide the space into three sections. The Rehearsal Hall also features a private deck that can accommodate an outdoor ceremony (weather permitting) for up to 100 guests.

The newest event space offers 3,500 square feet with a hand‐placed stone hearth, reclaimed barn wood, geothermal heating and cooling and a lawn for outdoor events.

How Will Grandma Get There? The Sundance Mountain Resort is located 55 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport and 45 minutes from Park City. Since you will be required to book between 20-35 rooms if you book your wedding more than two months in advance, Grandma would most likely want to stay at the resort. Room prices start around $254 (according to Priceline) for the summer season.


Party On! Last call is 1 a.m, though events can technically go past that time for an additional $200/per hour. Sundance “quiet” hours are from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and groups might be asked to close function space doors and turn down the volume of music after 11:00 PM.

The Report

The Sundance Mountain Resort was founded in 1969 by actor Robert Redford. With 100 rustic suites, cottages and homes, the boutique resort sits on over 5,000 acres near Utah’s Mt. Timpanogos, and is close to activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking and fly fishing.

I’m a big fan of luxury lodges, and this resort is a great combination of rustic and modern.And let’s not forget that gorgeous scenery! While they do not charge a venue rental fee for parties over 100 people, you’ll end up paying more for alcohol since it’s consumption based vs. per person. I’m definitely not a fan of consumption bars as they tend to add up quickly if you have a group of drinkers (you can estimate at least $81/pp here [$13.50 per drink, figuring 6 drinks per person for a 5-hour reception] if you go with their lowest premium bar option, and that’s not including wine). However, no venue rental fees means that cost will end up evening out to something more reasonable when all is said and done.
