Molly and Bhisma’s Studio City, CA Wedding

I don’t know about you, but I love hearing about how people met and ultimately fell in love. A real wedding can be gorgeous, but without knowing how a couple ended up saying ‘I Do,’ they’re little more than pretty pictures at the end of the day. Which is why we are so into Molly and Bhisma’s real wedding story! I’ll let bride Molly share the funny details, below, but in the meantime, we wanted to give a big thank you to the couple for sharing their love story and beautiful photos from Elizabeth Burgi Photography.

From Bride Molly:

“It was Halloween night, 2009. I was dressed as Rainbow Brite and was supposed to head to a house party with some friends. My plans ended up falling through and I did not want the night to be a waste, so my friend suggested we head to this bar/restaurant called Birds. Turns out, the same thing happened to Bhishma. I got a seat at the bar and a guy dressed as Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York, (I’ll admit, I thought he was dressed as Abe Lincoln at first) stood next to me to order a drink. He was having trouble and asked if I could help so of course, I did. Little did I know, Bhishma saw me from across the room and came up with the whole “trouble getting a drink” plan so that he could talk to me. We immediately hit it off. We even crashed a Halloween party later that night and pretended to be a couple at the party!

We lived more than an hour away from one another so I thought the odds of this actually working out were pretty slim. However, he called me a day later, asked me to go on a date that week, and we have been together ever since! The way we met reminds me of that quote, “Sometimes in an ordinary life, love gives you a fairy tale.” He was and still is the best thing that ever happened to me.

“At first, I had some pretty bad experiences shopping for a dress. Some places really pressure you to buy a dress and I had left one place in tears, feeling like I had gone to a used car lot and not a bridal salon. When I got to Winnie Couture, they offered me and my guests champagne and treated us wonderfully. They asked me what my budget was and only pulled dresses within that range. I tried on about ten dresses and narrowed it down to three. It came down to what kind of bride did I want to be? I opted for a strapless sweetheart neckline, ivory ball gown for two reasons: 1. As I mentioned before, meeting Bhishma was like a fairy tale, so it made sense to go for that kind of look, and 2. When else can you wear a ball gown? It also made me cry! I absolutely love it!”

“My family is from the east coast and Bhishma’s family is from central California so no matter what, our wedding would be a destination for our families to get to. We wanted a place where everyone could come and be together for the whole weekend so that we could make the most of our time together and not have to drive all over Los Angeles. Sportsmen’s Lodge turned out to be the perfect place for us to do just that. It was beautiful, newly renovated, and within our budget.”
