The Report

Millwick is from the same team behind one of LA’s favorite wedding venues, Marvimon, and actually replaces it as a venue since Marvimon is no longer being rented out for weddings. The indoor/outdoor building (which was once used as a livery and cold-storage warehouse) has over 7,000 sq. feet of space (4,500 sq ft interior and a 3,000 sq ft garden courtyard). The re-imagined space is located in downtown LA’s Artist District and is considered a green building since the new design reduced the original structure’s carbon footprint by “25%.”

Woman Getting Married Says

I recently visited Millwick for the first time while they were just finishing construction and I was impressed not only with the team but with the space itself. Every nook and cranny has been utilized and designed for a look that’s rustic and funky yet feels completely finished (without being stuffy). It definitely has an artsy/downtown vibe, which basically means you would have to bring in zero extra decorations if you chose not to (candles would be enough). While I love the space I do think it would work best for a wedding on the smaller side (under 100 people).

Even though there is a distinct inside/outside area it feels like one space to me, and I worry it could feel crowded after a while having a ceremony, cocktail hour, sit-down dinner, and dancing in the same space. For a party-party the space is amazing for bigger crowds, but I would lean towards a more intimate vibe for a wedding here.
