Sometimes you see wedding photos where the details perfectly capture the heart of a couple and their families. Whether it’s a glance or a smile or something as fun as a tie worn by the father of the bride, they all add up to an amazing event that makes you feel good just looking at them! That’s exactly how I feel about Kallen and Kyle’s Virginia Beach wedding from Elizabeth Henson Photos. From the aforementioned tie (which bride Kallen explains more about, below) or how the couple incorporated firefighter Kyle’s uniform into their wedding photos (and reception!), the wedding exuded love AND fun, which is what your wedding day is all about.
More from Bride Kallen…
My husband Kyle and I met at college. He graduated a year before me, so we had a long distance relationship for over two years. I was from the beach and he is a beach kid at heart, so we knew what kind of wedding we had in mind (which was easy to do in Virginia Beach). We chose The Yacht Club at Marina Shores so we could get the full marina experience. We had the ceremony on the deck overlooking the yachts, and our “beachy” themed wedding included plenty of navy blue and seagrass green colors with palm leaves and white oriental tiger lilies as our flower accents. My parents were a big help in organizing our big day, and we certainly know how to throw a party!
See more photos from their heartfelt waterfront wedding below. And thanks to Kallen and Kyle and Elizabeth Henson Photos for sharing!

The best part of our wedding day was when my Dad surprised me with a tie I made for him when I was 6 years old. He was determined to have me tie his tie before walking down the aisle, not knowing THAT was going to be the tie he chose.
The whole day was filled with happy tears of emotion to finally tie the knot with my best friend and welcome him as a part of my family.
The best advice I would give brides in the middle of planning, is to try to have “secrets” or surprises for the wedding. For example: my fiance picked out our first dance song the day after we got engaged and we swore to each other to not tell ANYONE what our song was until the wedding day. Special moments like that will be cherished for the rest of my life!
I love that advice!
