DIY Wedding Hair: Bridal Updo

When it comes to choosing a wedding hairstyle for your big day, you can’t go wrong with a classic bridal updo. This timeless style looks beautiful with any dress and is fitting for any style of wedding. Bridal updos can seem intimidating, and it’s tempting to go to a salon. But if you’re hoping to save money and improve your own styling skills, you’ll be happy to know this classic updo looks much more complicated than it is. With a little practice and this great DIY video, you’ll be pinning your hair back like a pro in no time. All you’ll need is a curling iron, a teasing comb, and some pins (a straightener for your bangs is optional). The video shows you exactly how to create the perfect volume and how to roll your curls and place your pins correctly, but you can also play with it and create your own style if you’re feeling comfortable. Once finished, pin in a beautiful hairpiece and you’re ready to walk down the aisle!

Here’s an overview of what you’ll have to do:

Step 1: Brush to remove tangles from dry hair. It’s best to have hair that was wash and blowdried 1-2 days before.

Step 2: Apply a heat protectant

Step 3: Spray a dry shampoo onto the roots and massage to make sure it’s distributed evenly

Step 4: Use rollers or a curling wand to curl your hair. It doesn’t have to be perfect!

Step 5: Tease the top section of your hair and spray each section with hairspray

Step 6: Smooth the section of hair you just teased and tuck it under using a bobbing pin.

Step 7: Divide the bottom section into three

Step 8: Start with the center section and loosely twist the hair in loops before pinning in place wherever you like.

Step 9: Accessorize with a hairpiece if you like!

Step 10: If you’re wearing a veil, you can tuck it into the first section you teased. Pro tip: Spray your veil with a bit of hairspray to keep it all in place.
