The Report:
Located on 20 acres of surrounding gardens, Barberstown Castle was built in the 13th Century and was one of the first Irish country houses to open itself to the public as a hotel in 1971. With a blend of Victorian and Elizabethan architecture with the original Castle Battlement of 1288, the Castle was initially built as a fortress to protect the village and people of Barberstown from the attack of Vi Faelain in 1310. Each room is named after a famous guest who has stayed in it, from Nicholas Barby in 1288 to Eric Clapton in 1979. Barberstown Castle is a member of Ireland’s Blue Book.
Woman Getting Married Says:
A destination wedding in a historic castle for over 100 people for under $20,000 is pretty amazing. We love that this property can accommodate a large number of guests and is so close to Dublin for guests traveling from the United States or Europe. The hotel is a great mix of antique and modern, and the indoor/outdoor spaces (without having to have a dining tent) are a great bonus.
