After ten years of marriage, Nina and Chip made the decision to travel to Hawaii to renew their vows. The big day came, and everything seemed to be perfectly in place — until Nina was ironing her dress and burnt it. With the couple’s scheduled photo shoot set to take place before the ceremony, she had no choice but to go with it.
Then, her heels broke.
Luckily Nina and Chip’s photographer, Harold Alvea of Alvea Studios, was cooler than a cucumber. A short trip to Ross for a replacement outfit turned into a photographed walk in Kakaako, downtown Honolulu alongside amazing murals. Alvea described the experience as “very colorful, just like their story.”
When it was finally time for the ceremony, everything was back on track. “It was just them and the ocean,” Alvea said of the “intimate” and “emotional” vow renewal. “You can really feel the love that binds their family.”
