Admittedly, one of the best parts of planning a wedding is planning the honeymoon. It’s your chance to jet halfway around the world and guiltlessly splurge on a unique, out of this world trip. While one of our favorite honeymoon islands is a quick 5-hour trip from the US, others are across the world in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Nevertheless, each includes charming, honeymoon island suites that will make you never want to leave. Wanderlust, right this way.

1. Le Taha’a Island Resort and Spa, Taha’a, French Polynesia

The Room: The Beach Villa

Dreaming of jetting to the South Pacific for a stay on one of French Polynesia’s dreamy islands? This one is for you. Le Taha’a Island Resort and Spa is located on the island of Taha’a, a tranquil destination accessible only by boat via the Raiatea airport (a 45-minute flight from Papeete, Tahiti’s main airport). The island is known for producing vanilla, and the intoxicating scent drifts in the air. You’ll find the fragrant treat in the delectable food, as well as aromatherapy at the spa. The Beach Villa offers an open-air thatched bungalow with direct access to the white sand beach and a view of the lagoon. Luxe features include a private dipping pool and a secluded outdoor bathtub and shower amidst a tropical garden. Our favorite feature? The serene hammock draped between palm trees that jets out over the lagoon. Plus, the ocean view from the bed is pretty incredible.

2. Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Bali, Ubud, Indonesia

The Room: One Bedroom Riverfront Pool Villa

Inspired by traditional Balinese architecture and décor, Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a true resort gem. Just over an hour north of the beach scene at Jimbaran Bay resides a totally different honeymoon island escape. Ubud, the cultural center of Bali, is well-known for its natural beauty including the Ayung River, as well as the lush rice paddies and surrounding tropical rainforest. The location boasts a culturally enriched arts scene and extraordinary carved temples are plenty, and Mandapa’s beautiful suites are situated amidst the natural beauty of Ubud. Our favorite suite has to be the One Bedroom River Front Pool Villa. At 4,630 square feet, the suite includes a large living room and bedroom that looks out to your private outdoor garden. Your own 320 square foot pool has views of the Ayung River with lounge chairs conducive for all-day relaxation. Perfection.

Not only is the island one of the most picturesque places you’ll ever visit, but the boutique hotels are so charming and unlike anything else in the world. One of our favorites is the Kirini Suites & Spa in Oia, (the small town where you’ll see those postcard sunsets). The suites here are simple and white, but not without undeniable magic.
