I flirted with the idea of having chalkboards near the bar at our wedding, so people could see what kind of liquor/wine we offered. But honestly at that point (it was a week before the wedding) the thought of doing one more thing would have driven me over the edge. But YOU…oh dear bride-to-be, can plan ahead!
I think chalkboards make a great addition to a bar if you have a limited drink menu (IE: you’re only offering one kind of wine, beer, and spirit), or if you have a speciality drink or two. I think it’s nice to see what your choices are. If you’re having a fully-stocked bar, the bartenders usually set up the bar so there’s a display of what’s available, so a chalkboard might be overkill.
While Etsy has several chalkboards available, I think they’re a little overpriced ($150 for a chalkboard? I’d rather use that money towards something else, IMHO). While doing a little early XMas shopping, I found my new favorite site, Terrain, and some cute chalkboard options that they offer, below.
This chalkboard is small (it’s only 8 inches high) but hung over a glass jug or a cute garden statue (like this cherub, here) it’s a cheap, functional, and unique (my three favorite words!) option. $10
Or this one…
