The Best Emerald Engagement Rings

You don’t have to be born in May or hail from the land of lucky charms to wear one. In fact, Halle Berry, Olivia Wilde, and even Jackie Onassis are just a few famous brides who have donned emerald engagement rings. And, given their rising popularity (Pantone named emerald it’s color of the year for 2013), chances are you’ll see even more of the colored gemstone.

Emeralds, often associated with “balance, harmony, growth, and prosperity,” are also considerably cheaper than their diamond counterparts. According to Newsweek, a “0.9-carat round diamond that’s internally flawless and of rare white color costs about $7,000” while a “round emerald with “excellent clarity” of the same size costs about half as much.” In addition to being less expensive (the darker the hue of the emerald, the more expensive they tend to be) it’s also easier to find a conflict-free emerald for those bride-to-be’s concerned about where their ring is sourced.

I think emeralds are a great option for a bride looking to go outside the box when it comes to engagement rings. To see a few of my favorites, visit my emerald engagement ring Pinterest board!
