The guests who attended the Royal Wedding almost certainly expected thank-you cards from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but the same might not have been said for anyone who wrote the British royals notes of congratulations. However, that’s exactly what they got.
According to the Instagram account Royal Letters, the newly-minted Duke and Duchess sent everyone who wrote them a thank-you note, addressed from Kensington Palace nonetheless. The cards were placed alongside a photograph of Harry and Meghan on their wedding day by photographer Alexi Lubomirski, in an envelope featuring the palace’s crest.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did,” each note read. “It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”
The couple had previously released their wedding portraits just a few days after the Royal Wedding. In a statement, Kensington Palace praised Lubomirski — who also took Harry and Meghan’s engagement photos — and his work. “Their Royal Highnesses are delighted with these official portraits taken by Alexi Lubomirski and are happy to be able to share them today,” the statement read. “They would also like to say thank you for all of the generous messages of support they have received.”
Now, fans all over the world will have a piece of royal history — and a beautiful one, at that.
