We always love seeing what couples are picking for their wedding songs, and The Washington Post recently compiled new Spotify wedding playlist data and made some really great charts. (You can see them all here).

First, they looked at what Spotify had compiled as the most common wedding songs added to playlists nationwide:

  1. “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran
  2. “Marry You” by Bruno Mars
  3. “All of Me” by John Legend
  4. “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson, featuring Bruno Mars
  5. “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston
  6. “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey
  7. “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé, featuring Jay-Z
  8. “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
  9. “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz
  10. “Hey Ya!” by OutKast

But then what’s really cool is they took all that data, then for every song in a state’s top 500 wedding songs list, they subtracted the song’s rank in that state from the song’s nationwide position to find the song with “the biggest gap between the two.” What resulted was an awesome list of uniquely popular wedding songs by state, below…

While they didn’t look at first dance songs by state (or at least that we can see), they did compile the most popular first dance wedding songs overall nationwide, which is always fun!

  1. “First Dance” by Justin Bieber, featuring Usher
  2. “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran
  3. “All of Me” by John Legend
  4. “At Last” by Etta James
  5. “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
  6. “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne
  7. “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele
  8. “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz
  9. “Better Together” by Jack Johnson
  10. “Everything” by Michael Bublé
  11. “Amazed” by Lonestar
  12. “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley
