2018 was a lot of things, but if one thing’s certain, it’s that the year was a big one for love — especially for celebrities. Meghan Markle become Duchess of Susessx when she married Prince Harry, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas had a blowout wedding celebration in India, and Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin secretly tied the knot, just to name a few.
It’s safe to say that 2019 has its work cut out for it. Below, we break down some of the most talked about weddings of 2018.
Meghan Markle & Prince Harry
Who can forget this year’s Royal Wedding? Harry and Meghan became husband and wife on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. After the two said their vows, they embarked on a procession in a horse-drawn carriage through the town of Windsor. There were two receptions — one for the 600 guests of the congregation from the ceremony at St. George’s Hall, and another, a private celebration hosted by Prince Charles at Frogmore House.
Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas
After getting engaged in July, Chopra and Jonas had a multi-day wedding celebration in Jodhpur, India. Beginning November 30th, the couple was joined by fellow celebrities, their families, and friends for a welcome party, a Mehendi, a Sangeet, a Hindu ceremony, and a Western ceremony. The two said “I Do” at the 26-acre Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.
Emily Ratajkowski & Sebastian Bear-McClard
The model surprised many when she announced in February that she had wed producer Bear-McClar at a courthouse in New York City. Ratajkowski wore an orange trenchcoat, wide-leg pants, and a black hat with a vail.
Mandy Moore & Taylor Goldsmith
Moore tied the knot with Goldsmith, frontman of the rock band Dawes, in a private wedding ceremony in Los Angeles. The actress wore a pastel pink Rodarte gown and pale pink veil, and several of her This Is Us co-stars — including Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, and Milo Ventimiglia — all attended the November wedding.
Karlie Kloss & Joshua Kushner
Kloss and Kushner were married in a small Jewish ceremony in upstate New York in October. Around 80 guests attended, though the couple reportedly plans to have a larger celebration in the spring.
Princess Eugenie & Jack Brooksbank
Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank followed in Harry and Meghan’s footsteps by exchanging their vows at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The wedding, held on October 12th, saw separate performances from Andrea Bocelli and State Trumpeters from the Band of the Household Cavalry. The Queen also hosted an afternoon reception at Windsor Castle, followed by a more intimate gathering that night at Royal Lodge.
Gwyneth Paltrow & Brad Falchuk
Paltrow wed Falchuk in an intimate, late-September ceremony at a private home in the Hamptons. Cameron Diaz, Steven Spielberg, Rob Lowe, Jerry Seinfeld, Robert Downey Jr., and more celebrities were in attendance.
Virginia Williams & Pusha T
The rapper married Williams, his longtime girlfriend, in their hometown of Virginia Beach in July. The couple wanted to maintain “Virginia flare” throughout the ceremony, reception, and even one of Williams’ dresses.
Hailey Baldwin & Justin Bieber
Bieber announced his engagement to Baldwin back in July, and PEOPLE reported that the couple said “I Do” in a secret ceremony in New York in September; however, the two didn’t confirm their marriage until November. The pop star captioned a photo of him and Baldwin, “My wife is awesome,” and Baldwin changed her Instagram handle to her married name of Hailey Bieber.
Hilary Swank & Philip Schneider
Secret weddings seemed to be trendy throughout 2018. Swank managed to keep her wedding to Schneider under wraps until after the two exchanged their vows. The woodland ceremony held at California’s Saint Lucia Preserve reflected the couple’s love of nature, and Swank wore an Elie Saab Couture gown comprised of 25 meters of Chantilly lace, eight meters of silk chiffon, and six meters of organza silk.
