Our average base cost for a Hummingbird Nest Ranch wedding is calculated by figuring a 125-person guest list using a $9,000 venue rental fee and an average food/beverage cost of $200/pp. Entertainment, flowers, additional decorations and rentals, transportation, and photography are not included. Note: These are old Security/Valet prices. The venue would not provide updated estimates for these current mandatory costs.

Security: Required security personnel are one guard per 100 guests with a minimum of two guards for all Events. The cost is $40 per hour per guard starting one hour before event and ending when last vendor leaves property. Events with 25 children or more are required to have one additional guard per 25 children. If contract time is exceeded there will be an additional cost of $52.50 per hour per guard.

Valet: The valet cost is determined by guest count and timeline. Prior to guest arrival, parking management is also required for vendor load-in and arrivals of anyone pertaining to Event and this cost is $600. For guest arrival, one attendant per 10 cars is required, plus one manager and two doormen, all at the rate of $31 per hour. If contract time is exceeded there will be an additional cost of $45 per hour per attendant.

(Updated as of 4/28/17): In addition to mandatory security and valet, here is the list of what you will have to bring in:

Vendors: Outside vendors allowed (except for security and valet, as outlined above)

Food: You can bring in your own caterer from a preferred list, or BYO with approval and possible additional fees (as brides note in the comments section, below).

Beverage: You can provide your own hard alcohol, beer and champagne without incurring a corkage fee. For wine, however, you must use Kieu Hoang, which they offer at a discounted rate. Otherwise any outside wines will incur a corkage fee per bottle. (NOTE: The venue would not tell us how much the corkage fee is, however a bride wrote in the comments section below that it can range from $15-$20/bottle.)

How Will Grandma Get There? This venue is 36 miles from LAX and located less than 30 minutes from Los Angeles, but the closest hotel options would be in Chatsworth (such as the Ramada Chatsworth, which is 7 miles [approximately 10 minutes] away. Ideally Grandma would stay at the one of the on-site accommodations, detailed below.


Party On! Events can go until 2 a.m. Amplified music is allowed.


The Report

Hummingbird Nest is located in the Santa Susana Mountains on 126 acres. The estate and equestrian property has a main villa, two “casitas” for guests, and various outdoor spaces with groves of olive trees and fountains for ceremonies and receptions (as outlined above).

Woman Getting Married Says

This is one of the few venues in Southern California that will allow you to not only bring in your own caterer and alcohol, but that offers a late curfew and has the space to host A LOT of guests. There are typically two weddings on the property each day, which in theory is a potential bummer. However, the Ranch is located on 126 acres and weddings are held on opposite sides of the property, and brides have not complained about this setup being an issue.

You also have to bring in pretty much everything, but that is a trade-off you’ll most likely have to make between bringing in your own caterer or having a full-service venue, which will include items like tables/chairs. In terms of my communication with the venue, it hasn’t been that great (but only because they weren’t willing to share updated/transparent pricing with me). As a bride you might have a completely different experience.

    1 – required to use their wine vendor otherwise $15-20/bottle corkage fee
    2 – site fee ranges from $11-13k
    3 – security and valet required and not included in venue price

    Thanks for the info. I’m assuming because it was sold this year the is the reasons for the price hike. It’s 9,000 + now. Instead of offering a discount for using the vendors they charge you a buyout i.e. 4,000 if you use an outside catering company. This is for a 2017 event.
