My Favorite Wedding Cake Trends

We’re halfway through the year and we’re already seeing several wedding cake trends that are so gorgeous they’ll most likely be around for a long, long time.

How do you know which wedding cake style is perfect for your wedding? My advice is to start thinking about the cake AFTER you’ve found not only your wedding venue and dress but your wedding invitations as well. I personally think the entire mood of your wedding is set with your wedding invitations, and the type of wedding cake you choose should follow naturally.

For example, if you’re having a Great Gatsby-esque, 1920’s-styled wedding, you would most likely choose wedding invitations with an Art Deco style, and a wedding dress with beads and embellishments. If you liked any of the most recent wedding cake trends below you would probably lean towards a metallic wedding cake in gold or silver.

If you wanted a more rustic wedding, your wedding invitations might be on recycled paper with hand-drawn graphics and tied together with lace. In that case a naked wedding cake style could be perfect for your wedding theme.

That’s not to say you always have to have a wedding theme. You could opt to just go with a hodge podge of your favorite things, and there’s nothing wrong with that! Just go with your gut and the wedding cake will follow.

Take a look at my favorite wedding cake trends from 2014 (so far), below. Then head over to my Wedding Cakes Pinterest Board for more inspiration!

P.S.: I am seriously OBSESSED with this first cake!!
