Another season of The Bachelorette has wrapped, and this year’s finale ended with an engagement between Becca Kufrin and Garrett Yrigoyen. Regardless of how you feel about Becca’s choice, there’s no denying the beauty of the engagement ring her fiancé proposed with.
Though Garrett chose the ring, it was actually Neil Lane, The Bachelor franchise’s go-to jeweler, who said he was thinking of Becca when he designed it. “I wanted to make a ring that was totally different than anything I had done for the show before. I wanted to create something very special for Becca, especially considering everything that happened with Arie,” Lane told PEOPLE, referencing Becca’s public breakup with Arie Luyendeyk Jr. on last season’s Bachelor.
Luckily, the ring seemed special to Garrett, too — perhaps because it was 18-carat gold, while most of Lane’s designs for the franchise have been in platinum.
“I wanted it to be elegant, quite glamorous and I wanted to use gold,” Lane said. “It’s a whole different concept — it has three oval stones, which helps celebrate both of them as a couple and the third diamond represents their future together.”
According to PEOPLE, the gold band is decorated with 84 full-cut smaller diamonds, bringing the total weight to nearly four carats. Lane noted that the ring is “not overly complicated or architectural,” but rather “elegant” and “effortless.”
The price hasn’t been revealed yet, but E! News reported that rings from past Bachelor and Bachelorette seasons have ranged from $50,000 to almost $100,000.
While Garrett ultimately picked the gold ring, Lane said he still took his time when deciding. “He took the process of picking out the ring so, so seriously and seemed to enjoy it,” the jeweler said. “He really studied them thoroughly and had a grin on his face, from ear to ear, the whole time.”
All in all, Lane seemed to approve of Becca’s future husband. “You could tell Garrett was genuinely smitten, and just so excited and enthusiastic to be with Becca – he was funny, sweet and charismatic,” he said.
