Rumors have been swirling for months about who will design Meghan Markle’s wedding dress, but today we might have a better idea about who the bride will walk down the royal aisle wearing.
While all bets have been on Australian design duo Ralph & Russo–the pair who designed the gorgeous gown Markle wore in her engagement photos–a newly released photo of Meghan Markle’s mom Doria might have just revealed the big secret.
Doria Ragland arrived in London yesterday, and coming off the plane with her was a Burberry garment bag. Why does this even matter? Well, in 2011 Kate Middleton’s wedding dress designer (Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen) outfitted Middleton’s entire family and is apparently a newish custom according to sources. Now we all know Harry and Megan are the first to throw tradition out the window, but perhaps not when it comes to this. Another tradition that are not likely to skip out on, either? Having Queen Elizabeth II view the dress. Kate Middleton apparently showed the Queen her wedding dress three weeks before her big day, making us wonder if Meghan Markle has done the honors yet…
Previous to the Burberry-in-the-wild spotting, other designers that have been talked about being potential designers in addition to Ralph & Russo are Stella McCartney, Inbal Dror, Erdem, and even Alexander McQueen again (though we highly doubt that).
Regardless of who designed Meghan Markle’s wedding dress, we do know that it is safely tucked away in Windsor Castle at this very moment. And We might not find out until Saturday, but we’re now dreaming of what a Burberry wedding dress could look like. Here’s a few of our favorite looks from the aforementioned designers, above.
