When your favorite home decor website launches a wedding registry you a) get super, super excited, and b) hope it’s good. More often than not we’ve seen great stores launch wedding registries that leave a lot to be desired. It’s not just a matter of adding a “register for this” button to a product, it’s about creating a super easy AND fun experience for a couple. Which is why we’ve been super excited to share Wayfair’s wedding registry with you!

I don’t know about you, but we shop at Wayfair.com… A LOT. It’s our version of a dream online department store that still feels super curated despite having pretty much any product you can think of. From cookware to linens, furniture, and rugs, you could easily (and fabulously) decorate your entire apartment or house with your wedding registry.

But if you do decide to create a Wayfair wedding registry, how do you get the most out of it? We review the process, below, and give you our tips on how to set it up (and what not to miss).

Know Where to Start

After you sign-up and fill in your wedding details (like your wedding date, photo, note for guests, and even your wedding hashtag…we love that!), this is most likely the moment where you’ll be like “OK. Where do I start?” What’s great is that Wayfair makes adding gifts extremely intuitive. There’s an ‘Add Gifts’ link in the registry nav bar, and a drop-down where you can browse their Curated Collections, see their Registry Checklist, or browse by Price, Style, Brand, or Department. We suggest starting with their Registry Checklist, which easily lets you add gifts from categories such as Appliances, Dining, Bed & Bath and more. Plus, within each one, there’s a list of specific items you may need, like KitchenAid mixers or bedsheets, so finding exactly what you want is very easy. We found a ton of great products by using this tool. Almost too many! LOL.

Adding products from this section was super easy, but one thing to note is that while you can easily select the “Add to Registry” button at the bottom of an item, to add more than one you’ll have to click on the product and then select your quantity when the new window pops up. It would be great if you could have an option for quantity next to the “Add to Registry” button, but overall it’s still a very easy process.

Keep Track of Your Progress

We went on a bit of a spree adding things from the Registry Checklist, so we were relieved when we saw the “Checklist Progress” section to keep us on track! It allowed us to see the progress we were making in each category, such as Kitchen, Dining, Bed & Bath, For the Home, and Outdoor.

P.S.: Since the site is 100% mobile-friendly, this is also super easy to do from your phone.

We had just started and found ourselves quickly filling up our Cookware and Dining sections, which means we were finding a ton of great stuff (a good problem to have)! Time to concentrate on other sections…

Search by Style

From there I went to Curated Collections for some inspiration. They have collections inspired by certain brands (like Birch Lane, All Modern, Joss & Main…even our friends at Style Me Pretty!). We like to entertain, so my first stop was the Dining Faves collection. While they had some awesome picks, nothing was calling my name. So I went to the “Registry Inspiration” under “Help & Advice” which was SUPER helpful and fun. From there I visited “Real Life Registries” and found a ton of great accessories to add from that fit my style.

Another awesome option for couples (aside from Wayfair’s HUGE selection of products) is that they also offer decor for your wedding day, which you can add to your registry or purchase on your own.

I love that there are also reviews for a lot of the products, which is something I definitely appreciate if I’m deciding between two items. I did find myself a bit lost for a second when I clicked on the reviews and was taken to the regular Wayfair site. The best way to get back to where you are from here is to click the “back” button on your browser vs. the Registry section in the top nav. It would be great if you could read the reviews in the pop-up vs. going to a different section, but I was able to find my way back to keep adding products!

Register for Big-Ticket Items

One thing that really stands out about Wayfair’s wedding registry is your ability to not only register for big-ticket wedding gifts you wouldn’t normally be able to (like that French Door refrigerator you’ve been eyeing or even something completely unexpected but totally awesome like a hot tub) but how easy it is to enable group gifting. Whether it’s $30 or $300, guests can contribute any amount towards a big-ticket item that’s high on your dream wedding registry list. If for some reason the full amount doesn’t end up being contributed towards your group gift, it will work as a credit towards anything else you want to buy.

Make It Easy for Guests

As a guest I also found the gifting process on the Wayfair Wedding Registry super easy. I located the registry, could choose to contribute towards a group gift or add another item to my cart, and then I was taken to an easy checkout page. Your Aunt that is terrible with computers can definitely handle this! We also love that Wayfair’s prices are a great, everyday value…something we appreciate as a guest AND a bride.

Other Wayfair Wedding Registry FAQs worth noting:

  • Gifts shipped directly to the couple are free! If guests are shipping a gift to themselves to give you in person, all orders over $49 ship free.
  • You can use the Wayfair app to add gifts, track gift status and shipment, edit your settings, and more.
  • Registry specialists are on hand to answer any questions you might have about products or how many gifts you need.
  • Existing Wayfair Reward Dollars can be applied to gifts on your wedding registry.
  • You have 90 days to return a wedding gift you don’t love.

Bottom Line

Wayfair’s wedding registry is definitely on our list of faves. Considering we already shop there all the time, it’s a great way to get a huge selection of products for any room in your house, and they carry some amazing brands we are big fans of. I love their Registry Checklist tool, as well as their Curated Collections. And if you already have Wayfair Reward Dollars, the fact that you get to apply them to any remaining registry items leftover on your list is a great perk!
