It’s the most wonderful time of the year — Pantone just announced its official color for 2020: Classic Blue.
Described by Pantone as “a timeless and enduring blue hue,” the Color of the Year is strikingly different from last year’s light and bright Living Coral. However, the pick is supposed to reflect a “dependable and stable foundation on which to build” as we usher in a new decade.
Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute — the business unit within Pantone that actually selects each Color of the Year — expanded upon the decision with a statement: “We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by Pantone 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on.”

She continued, “Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”
Pantone also described the shade as a “universal favorite,” which makes it even more of a perfect color for 2020 weddings. Even if you’ve already started the planning process, Classic Blue can easily be incorporated into small or big parts of your special day. The phrase is, “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue,” after all!
