Reception Decor: Recycled Bicycle Candelabras

I don’t know if this catalogue I just received is the weirdest or best one ever. It’s such a random assortment of products, yet they all seem to kind of go together. The theme is “recycled and rustic,” and some items are pretty awesome.  The At West End catalogue might have to go into my monthly rotation.
There’s a couple great wedding reception candelabra options in the 2011 catalogue, pictured above and below. Considering that my wedding candelabra’s cost $39/each to RENT (and that was considered a steal), at $59/each you can buy these and either sell them after your wedding, or pawn them off to family/friends as Thank You gifts.

Various sizes (like this one and the one above): $59

Reception Decor: Stripe Runner

I stumbled across this awesome and somewhat affordable table runner in one of the gazillion catalogues I seem to get in the mail. I’m always on the hunt for great runners. If you’re having rectangular tables (or better yet, farm tables), runners are such an easy way to add color to your table. This one from Williams-Sonoma would be great for a fall wedding…

Reception Decor: Paper Placemats

If you visited the site in the past 24 hours you might have noticed several old posts that somehow got republished. Sorry about that! I seemed to have fix the problem, so you won’t have to read about my PRE-wedding nervousness yet AGAIN.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming…

If you haven’t heard about OneKingsLane.com, you’re missing out. It’s a sale site, just like GiltGroupe.com or HauteLook.com, but it focuses on home decor. In addition to their regularly discounted items, they have lots of amazing designers who select their favorite items from their store or travels for Tastemaker Tag sales. Even at up to 70% off retail, most of the items featured on the site are way out of my budget, but it’s fun to look and from time to time they have some steals (like this vintage Louis Armstrong poster , below, that I got for $60 as part of a New Orlean’s designer collection, complete with Hurricane Katrina water damage. Not that water damage is ‘chic’ by any means. I just like the history it adds to it.)

They are also a great resource for wedding finds on occasion, such as cake servers and stands. Today they’re featuring paper placemats from Belle Banquet (you have to sign up for a free membership to the site in order to see them). They normally retail at $48 for a set of $12, but OneKingsLane.com is selling them for $19. They come in several funky patterns, and they would add a ton of personality to your wedding tables for less than $200 (depending on your guest count). You can mix and match, or stick with the same pattern for every place setting. A couple of my favorite designs are below. The sales don’t last forever, and they tend to sell out FAST (I’ve yelled at my computer on multiple occasions trying to buy something that another member has snatched up), so hurry up!

Reception Decor: Kerosene Lanterns

I’m down in Miami visiting the folks this week, and am loving all the new restaurants I’ve been trying the past few days. Last night we went to an amazing Greek restaurant called Mandolin in the Design District, and I loved everything about it…right down to the lanterns on the table. We sat outside in the restaurant’s garden, and they had these cute and functional kerosene lanterns on every table. I think they’re a great, inexpensive option for an outside wedding, or even an inside wedding with a rustic theme. You can find them for as low as $9 on Amazon, or at a local sporting goods/army navy surplus store. Bonus? You can use them in your backyard or throughout your house after the wedding! Compared to how much candelabras or other candle holders can cost, these are a great-looking steal.
