About: Jesús del Pozo was born in Madrid, where he opened his first men’s store on the now-famed Almirante Street in 1974. He went on to launch his bridal collection in the 1990′s, and even brought his attention to detail to center stage with his wardrobe design of the National Cuban Ballet’s  “The Four Seasons.” Jesús del Pozo, who has also done bridal collections for Rosa Clara, has a successful Haute Couture and Ready to Wear line as well.

I love how elegant, airy, and seemingly effortless his designs are. When I look at his dresses, I get the innate sense that they just float on your body, and are the most comfortable things you could ever wear.

Elizabeth Fillmore "Rose" Wedding Gown

About:

Elizabeth Fillmore graduated from the Parsons School of Design in NYC in 1993, and soon began designing a high-end evening line. Urged by the fashion director of Saks Fifth Avenue to start her own bridal collection, she launched Elizabeth Fillmore bridal in 1999. Fillmore says she loves the “magical” aspect of a wedding gown, and designs for the modern romantic. Using all silk fabrics and lining, Fillmore says she relies on mainly French and Italian couture fabrics to offer a richness to her designs.

I love the draping on so many of her gowns. Her dresses definitely have a structured yet “Bohemian” quality to them…They manage to be both airy and completely polished at the same time, which is no easy feat!

Wedding Dress Alternative: Herve Leger

It might just be because I am secretly dying for one of these dresses, but I think the Herve Leger bandage dress in a cream or gold would make a great nontraditional wedding dress. It would be especially cute for an outdoor wedding or a more casual restaurant wedding. Bonus? You can wear this dress again and again and again and again (for that price you better be able to!).

Bridesmaid Dresses: Vera Wang

As of last week, I was still searching for bridesmaid dresses. I knew what I wanted, but just wasn’t finding it. And if I did find it, it was either too expensive or took as long as 17 weeks to be made! Honestly, I think I could learn to make a dress in that time.

Since I wanted the bridesmaid dresses to be under $200, I didn’t even think of checking out Vera Wang. I assumed that if Nicole Miller and Monique Lhullier dresses were too expensive, Vera Wang was going to be outrageous. Well, you know what they say when you assume things. It has to do with an ass, you, and me.

After looking at the umpteenth bridesmaid dress late one night last week, I somehow found myself on VeraWang.com. And guess what? The dresses were amazing and UNDER $200. They also come in a great selection of colors, and only take 10 weeks to get to your bridesmaids. I gave my 6 bridesmaids the choice between two dresses, both in the same color, but two different styles and one was cheaper than the other. While I actually would have chosen to first one for myself, they all seem to love the strapless one, both pictured below. That one happened to be $220…still a great deal I think for Vera.

The Megan (20M12) in Chiffon, $180

The Tina (26M07), $220
