How Will Grandma Get There? Ideally at the resort. Typically, their rooms are in the $700+ range, but in August-October you might be able to get room blocks starting at $350-$400s (an exact rate cannot be quoted without a firm date/number of rooms). Lower price options are also nearby, such as the Half Moon Bay Lodge (1.1 miles away).

The Report:

Set on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay features the only coastal golf course (with 2 championship courses) in the Bay Area.

Woman Getting Married Says:

Pros: It’s only 24 miles from the San Francisco airport, and the views are incredible. Even though the weather will be a bit cooler in this part of California (think cozy vs. beachy), with an indoor pool, tennis courts, fire pit, golf course, and nearby activities such as horseback riding, kayaking, and wine-tasting, I think it has a lot to offer for a destination wedding venue. Cons: I don’t love the typical ballroom feel of their spaces, but I think the view and setting more than make up for it. The high California tax (9.50) combined with the 24% gratuity on the F&B is also a tough pill to swallow…you’d be paying over $18,000 just for gratuity and taxes in the combo we’ve selected above. You also have to keep in mind the high room rates at luxury hotels such as this one. Even though there are less expensive hotels nearby, most guests prefer to stay on site. If you know this room rate will be too high for a lot of guests, I would reconsider this as a venue. But, if your budget is flexible, I would definitely consider this splurge option considering the entire resort is so stunning.
